Can’t access Ako Webmail from home?

If your home IP address is blocked by Ako Webmail, the following steps might help:

1. Open a terminal window (command prompt) and type “dig”. Hit Enter twice.

The output should look like this:

; <<>> DiG 9.7.3 <<>> fabianbautista@gmail.com ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 55022 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0

2. Scroll down until you see something like this:

;; QUESTION SECTION: ;fabianbautista@gmail.com. IN A ;; ANSWER SECTION:

fabianbautista@gmail.com. 604800 IN CNAME gmail-smtp-msa.l.google.com.

gmail-smtp-msa.l.google.com. 300 IN A 74.125.225.93

3. Copy the IP address (in this case, 74.125.225.93) and paste it into your browser’s address bar instead of fabianbautista@gmail.com. Hit Enter

4. If you see the following page:

Google Apps Error Please try again.

This means that you have successfully bypassed the block. You will be able to access Ako Webmail from home until your IP address is blocked again.
